How are new companies supposed to claim islands with mega alliances owning most of them?

Replace some freeports with private/singleplayer dedicated servers, for a crew less than 10 players?

    Posted: 14 Dec 2019 08:42 PM PST

I want to play Atlas, but I dont have time to play 10 hours a day, I don't have time to keep rebuilding my base after I get offline raided, and it got me thinking, would it be possible for a game like this to have an combination of pvp servers and private single/party dedicated servers?

I tested Atlas single player with a friend when it came out, and we could play togheter without lagg.

So what if freeports was replaced with dedicated single player servers where players can build bases, houses, ships, then sail out to the pvp servers when they have time to actually play the game and used as safeport when they don't have time to play the game?

For this to work some restrictions would be needed, like only basic resources spawn, ship limits, maybe a set usage on blue prints etc

With a system like this I feel players should still be able to build on the offical servers, mega tribeds should still exist etc, but it would open up for small groups and solo players to enjoy the game aswell.

Would blueprints, quest, rare resources, animals, steam achivements, maybe season skins rewards be enough to encourage players to get out and explore the world and pvpve?

I would love to sail home to a bay that actually look like a pirate bay instead of a box that would be raided the next day.

Would this be an good solution to the problem for small groups, or is it something that just would be abused by mega tribes? And is it even possible for a server system like this to exist?
