    Crew payment/feeding

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 09:26 AM PST

...turns into a very tedious task.

Now that tax banks will be able to receive goods, how about the crew get their food/payment from that as well as the flag upkeep?

    Torpor counters?

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 11:07 AM PST

Does anyone know of a reliable way to reduce torpor quickly? I assume fortitude still makes you more resilient to torpor damage but there doesn't seem to be any consumable to reduce it. None of the custom foods do anything for torpor and stimulants don't exist. As much as I enjoyed my date with Bill Cosby the Kraken, five minutes asleep doesn't make for very interactive gameplay.

No Loot: The Same Problem Summit Complains About Sea of Thieves

    Posted: 06 Mar 2019 08:01 PM PST

I'm not exactly sure what the incentive of raiding or PVP is at this point? It's damn sure not loot.

The one thing that bores me with this game is the fact that people always popcorn loot. Sure, maybe you get a kit or two from a dead body, but the good stuff is always gone.

    Sink a boat? --- Loot's gone.

    Raid a base? --- Loot's gone.

This was supposed to be a pirate game and I'm starting to get sick and tired of chasing ship wrecks just to get to the bottom of the ocean to find that there's no goodies to plunder. For the guys that don't care about getting land, the only reason to raid would be to obtain loot... The only way to do this in the past was to OFFLINE RAID since it was a sure shot way to guarantee that there wouldn't be some prick around to popcorn all of the good stuff and therefore incentivized offline raiding.

I'm getting bored... This patch isn't going to fix anything when it comes to there still being absolutely no incentive for me to raid. I want my f*cking loot and I want it now.

Suggestion on making this game work.

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 10:00 AM PST

    Atlas has two main problems.

    1. Everyone is a pirate. Who did pirates in the olden days fight? They preyed on civilians, trade companies and ships, unprepared military ships. Pirates did attack each other but in comparison to the others mentioned it was rare. Altas doesn't have anyone to prey on other then other pirates.

    2. People are treating this game like ark. It's not the players fault. This is basically an ark reskin with some sparkly new assets.

The devs want to make a first person pirate game that plays like eve. But very little infrastructure to make altas as complex as eve.

They need to rework the skill trees and make them role specific, for example if you plan to do military training you become a more disciplined soldier who can shoot better, reload faster.

If people can choose to be something other then a pirate this gives the game more depth

Our Highlists from the first NA PVP Kraken Bowl

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 01:56 AM PST

[Suggestion] Since we are starting fresh, add a metal tier to building(but make it extremely expensive)

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 12:39 PM PST

I know everyone was really frustrated with the stone tier changes 2 months ago, and how stone structures are still eaten up like butter, what if there is the next tier like in ARK.

25K HP-120-200 metal alloy+x paste+whatever and needs a ton of points to unlock.

Could probably just reuse the skins from ARK for the wipe and make it look more piraty in the next few patches.

Pros-your base is not a block of butter anymore Pushes for more sea PvP rather than land raiding Late game item since you would have to rebuild your base one you can afford it. Cons-it would make land raiding significantly harder.

I would also suggest a new type of mortar shot specifically designed for this type of structure-doesn't explode but slowly burns through the metal?

If the Kraken Bowl taught me anything

    Posted: 06 Mar 2019 08:44 PM PST

It's that this game is nowhere near ready for *any* sort of mass naval PVP battle. The amount of lag, disconnects, rubber banding - I had better framerate on my 7th grade powerpoint presentation. Since most of the game with the upcoming patch is really pushing people towards naval battle, this will be a huge problem if not addressed sooner rather than later. It wasn't just me, it was literally everyone in our company.

What is Grapeshots official response to the likelyhood of future PVE wipes?

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 11:14 AM PST

Unless we hear otherwise, we aren't returning because the "welp it's beta, you SHOULD expect wipes!" doesn't fly, especially after we played Ark for years and never had any wipes on our official PVE servers. We slaved and slaved over our base, it still remains the nicest I've seen on official PVE and now it's going to be wiped. I'm not debating on rather it should happen or not, the fact remains it is happening and all of that progress that we thought we'd have for well over a year is now a lost cause.

Are you all going to wipe official PVE as an extreme last resort as in 99% chance there wont be another wipe until launch day or should we expect the likelyhood of wipes in the future during early access? Honesty goes a long ways.

Loot Currency as Reward (Booty Points)

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 10:33 AM PST

So, I skimmed the other thread on lack of loot/incentive to fighting and no one that I saw brought up the idea of a loot currency?

There is already a system in place that rewards groups i.e. kill a Whale / Kracken etc... (discovery points). What if we had "Booty Points" or <insert name>. This would be a token/currency that would be rewarded when a ship is sunk, a person is killed, a island is claimed etc... Honestly this is not all that different from many other games(ESO has a system for PVP like this right?).

Well wtf is the point? You want loot... you want a reward... this is how you get that booty. This is also another way for the game to implement(dare I say micro transactions) more cosmetics and items. Examples(for sake of discussion):

1 PvP land kills: 1 Point

1 Ship Kill: 10-50 depending on boat

    1 Island Claim: 150 Points

    Rewards:

100 Points: Various hats / hooks other bs...

200 Points: Cosmetic blueprints for swords/pistol etc

300 Points: Ship wheel/cannon cosmetic BP

400 Points: Epic cool Armor Cosmetic BP

500 Points: Masterwork limited use BPs etc...

List can go on... Sea Of Thieves I believe has done a very nice job with cosmetics, and some are very desirable and look good, while different games a lot of those style cosmetics could fit into Atlas by way of Blueprints to craft.

(I don't keep up with the latest dev discussions and notes so flame me if they already discussed this direction)

Seems to me one of the easiest way to keep people interested and wanting to participate in PvP while being rewarded... obviously the rewards will determine the desire. I am pretty sure a 10k point 1 time use Ghost ship(not SoTD/Jetski) BP/skin would have people foaming at the mouth.

    Thoughts? Desires? Wetnap? Pitchfork?

(edit: For myself I really do not need a reward I enjoy just the concept/idea of PvP. Rewards really do not increase my desire to do something as much... but does give people goals, I was shocked at how many people are disappointed for not getting a reward by sinking someone... if that many people feel that way then perhaps a system is needed, and I think a exchange system like this may be easier then a actual ship loot system)

Ship of the Damned / Ghost Ship.

    Posted: 06 Mar 2019 08:59 PM PST

Please, I'm begging you. Scrap the Ship of the Damned aesthetic.

Take the guy that designed the Ghost Ship, have him do the same ghosty graphics thingy with a sloop, a schooner, and a brigantine. Leave the Galleon version as the Ghost Ship, as is. Make the new super SotD be the ghosty brigantine model, and the two smaller classes be like ghosty brigs and schooners. Vary their sails so they dont look stale, if you want. Make them have color gradients based on their level.

After that, take the guy that designed the floating bad dragon dildos that we currently have and have him design new weapon skins or something.

IDEA : Add a Tile which has schedule mini pvp| tournament ( naval combat.)

    Posted: 06 Mar 2019 10:43 PM PST

Simple as that , it can be set up to automatically start a match every certain times and all players have to do is click a match making or option and go at it and maybe it auto arranges or sets up teams against each other, maybe even make it so it contributes to the rankings.

Or you can make a single tile be like a mini BR mode where the circle gets smaller and pushes ships to the center with the kraken spawning at the end.

When you run out of cannon balls (kraken bowl)

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 05:54 AM PST

Elementals don't drop anything and farming Mythos is a waste of time. A thread.

    Posted: 06 Mar 2019 11:07 PM PST

So, I'm playing on an unofficial server that allows claims and building on Golden Age islands. Very cool. My friend and I are pretty well-versed with survival games and this grind is nothing new. So we take to the Smithy and begin cranking out a full stone fortification. Get something ridiculous like 200+ foundations, walls, ceilings, roofs. We then make about 7k alloy and farm up for ballistas and mortars. The whole nine yards.

We set off to find a piece of the island we could build against. Find a big stone spire and figure we could build around that. Get to building and setting up the defenses proper. We even bring NPCs to man the ballistas because we just want the mythos that we're sure to get by killing these fire elementals.

It was at that point, everything went wrong. We purposely aggrod a Fire Ele in the hopes that we could bring it down fast enough...

We didn't. The NPCs didn't fire and ended up dying because the Fire Ele can smack through stone walls. He also smashes them for 300+ damage. We wittle him down enough with some of our emergency ballista and manage to bring him down, only to find out... This mother f***er doesn't drop a God damned thing. Not only that, we find out that the Mythos upkeep cost is far more outrageous than initially thought.

What incentive is there to making mythical items when you can spare yourself time and just make legendary items, which are at times better than some mythic drops? There is no incentive to fighting any of the endgame mobs because they just aren't worth it. Farming mythos is not worth the time it takes to gather enough to make an item, let alone manage the durability upkeep.

The endgame mobs need a full overhaul. As a matter of fact, the entire concept of the Golden Age islands needs an overhaul. These mobs need to be worth something much, much more than some crafting items. Here are a couple things I would do to make farming these trash mobs somewhat worth it.

    1. Make a set of armor for each of the mythical creatures plus the elementals. Have them drop the mats needed to make said armor and give them a set bonus. Whether it be reducing Gorgon stun by 75% for a full set or 15% per piece. Give them a better armor value than plate as well.

    2. Almost the same as 1 but instead of armor, a craftable weapon. A fire elemental could drop a unique Flintlock that shoots fire bullets. A Cyclops can drop a Two-Handed Mace that inflicts much more damage and has a greater stun duration.

    3. Other unique random loot drops that are specific to the Golden Age islands. Make going there mean something other than "I'm just gonna drown the Hydra and get the power stone. It'll be about 10 minutes".

    4. Make the Golden Age tames worth a damn. In a previous post I made, someone mentioned having the dinos on the island have special abilities to counter the magical beings. This is such a sick idea. This would make taming them worth the time and effort and it could also help others.

In the end, I know this is just another PVE change that they're going to set to the side because it doesn't affect game balance as much as exploding barrels or underwater cannons, but there IS supposed to be a PVE experience to be had. Hell, a bulk of the trailer showed players fending off mythical beasts ON FOOT. Safe to say we know the result of those battles.

TL;DR Golden Age mobs aren't worth the effort and mythos isn't worth farming. Stick to legendary BPs.

PSA: Easiest way to exploit raid windows

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 07:41 AM PST

There will be four islands in each grid after the wipe.

If your company and or alliances control atleast 3 islands then this should work in theory.

Set island 1 raid window between 12AM to 9AM

Set Island 2 between 9AM to 6 PM

Set island 3 between 6PM and 3 AM

Now all you do is move your most valuable items and ships to the protected areas during said island raid time.

Now all your good stuff is immune and can never be raided unless someone declares war on your islands.

Just pointing out a major flaw with the new system. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
