Posted: 19 Apr 2019 12:07 PM PDT After we tamed the CRAB we found out the you can no longer able to pick up tames. I dont no if this has been like this but in PTR you could pick up Tier 2 Animals. Is the crab broken or nurffed? [link] [comments]

Posted: 19 Apr 2019 09:35 AM PDT So what's the fastest way to level now? Still doing treasure maps? Or what about maybe killing cyclops or just higher level animals on powerstone islands? [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Apr 2019 10:11 PM PDT Before we get started, there needs to be a "Suggestion" flair, suggestions are not under "discussion" as it is a totally different topic. Alright lets get at it. Something that I personally noticed that is odd for a pirate game is the lack of trade ships from other companies that I can sink and get their stuff. Introducing Cargo containers and Cargo ships. Cargo ship ideaA cargo ship specifically designed with the aspect of carrying mass amounts of trade goods. This has been suggested before, so I would like to suggest it again. This ship could use the Brigantine model for a place holder, but I think it would be best to use a similar size as that but just have the ship be wider. You could use all the same values as well. Capture time for these ships should be significantly reduced if not anchored and there is not a bed present on the ship. Capture time should be in the 1-6 hour range depending on the level of the ship (level 1-10 1hr, 11-20 2hr, etc...). If the ships is anchored it should follow the general rule set for the class of ship it is. Benefits
Negatives
Cargo Container ideaSo far I thought about cargo containers in the same aspect as if there isn't a possibility of cargo ships. So we will go with an "if" statement. If cargo ship idea is true, then lets go with this. Cargo containers: There will be 4 different types of containers. Metal, Organic, Stone, and Sap based items. These new items can not be picked up or moved once placed. They are structures the same as storage boxes. When a ship is sunk, these would act like flotsam and last 6 hours, after that they disappear. So if a ship had more rare storage containers, which I mention above, it would behoove players to board the ship and capture it.
Now skill sets for these. Obviously the skill for cargo ship would be the same as what ever class the ship is in. So the devs if they didn't want to add specialized designs, they could just add a "cargo variant" to the schooner, brigantine, and galleon. And the skills required to build the ships would be the same as it would be to build those ships. But for the cargo containers, those should be under a different skill line altogether. There should be two different skills to build them altogether.
Now if they didn't want to add in cargo ships, they could add cargo decks. Just without the bonuses and the deck would only allow containers and structures to be placed on it, with cannons excluded. I also have a future idea for mass trade which involves these. Introducing a new idea to compliment cargo containers. Trading Ports
Conclusion, We need logistics. And if we had logistics, i think this game would thrive a lot more. It would offer people a career path out of just doing piracy. There could be a chance that some companies would just take up trade even on the pvp servers. PvP does not have to be strictly fighting ship to ship battles. You can PvP through pure capitalistic might. Edit: For OP notes: Jat, if you see this, which i am sure you will. And if you say you will discuss this with the engineers, please give a follow up. Either Post a thread on the stuff that you talked about or update thread that such things are not possible, or that such things are in the work, or are planned. It would be super beneficial to the community if the devs just said "that is not possible" that way we can understand the limitations that the engine has. I also understand that there might be some things that you can't discuss and that is cool too. Also some Grammar. [link] [comments]

Next content update pls give us more ship types. Posted: 18 Apr 2019 02:17 PM PDT How about some frigate or barks? we still only have 3 viable pvp boats, brigs, schooners and galleons and maybe some more sail types? [link] [comments]
Big Island Concern, Please Read before more people decide NOT to come back Posted: 19 Apr 2019 10:17 AM PDT The only reason why I stick with this game is because I truly love sailing, it's so much fun. I also like building things that'll last a really long time. It was mentioned before that there'd be wipes when necessary. Prior to that it was mentioned that there are hired engineers that can add on servers. Question: Will there be a PVE wipe just to add these new islands or will you repurpose non-buildable sectors/lawless/freeports instead? There seems to be a ton of options that don't involve PVE wipes. I don't hate large islands AT ALL, go for it if that's what you guys want to do, I think it could be a lot of fun but in a PVE sense as in, getting to bosses and what not - not necessarily more places to build. I think that's a fear some people have is large/medium/small current islands will be replaced with singular giant islands. Most players will be against this without a doubt, especially if that means we're all going to have to start over again, again so soon. If you dont focus on the adventure of sailing aspect, you will lose a giant chunk of player interest because most of us play this game for that aspect in particular. If there's some giant island far far away that'll take me IRL 5 hours to get to and I have IRL shit to do, well that's going to be a 3 day adventure, that's awesome! Dock and visit new faces, pick up rare mats along the way - that's so much fun! But if these are going to be everywhere, I'm entirely against it. This is about ocean adventure, don't turn PVE into another land adventure game with some water elements to it. These concerns need to be addressed ASAP before people read this that haven't started yet and just peace out entirely. [link] [comments]

Make salvaging ships worth it more. Posted: 18 Apr 2019 10:07 PM PDT The ship salvaging system is already really good but I would like to see a skill added to the skill tree where there is like a super small percentage chance that when you demolish a bp ship it has a chance to spawn the equivalent bp in the player's inventory. Also quick side note that if this gets added make it so it only works on sunken ships so people cant use it to dupe bps [link] [comments]

How do the devs envision us successfully killing a drake? Posted: 18 Apr 2019 07:10 PM PDT After spending roughly 2.5 hrs killing a drake for a powerstone, I have to wonder: what do the devs think we are supposed to do? The old method was to kite it to your boat, hide below deck and wait until it stopped mid air so you could ballista it. Post-update, this no longer happens as instead of stopping mid air, the drake flies back to the island. So since we couldn't feasibly ballista it while it flies erradically, we decided to rifle it down. Rifle shots would do 200 damage per, resulting in hours before the drake finally went down. If you died and stopped shooting it, it would de-aggro and fly back to the island, causing us to have to go through the kiting process over and over again. So... what do the devs think we are supposed to be doing? Surely they don't think we're supposed to shoot it with rifles for 3 hours. [link] [comments]
Custom Atlas Server and animal availability Posted: 19 Apr 2019 05:34 AM PDT Just curious, and searching for Atlas info is really hit or miss... If a custom map is created, is there any way to determine what creatures spawn where? Directly, or indirectly (like Giraffe and Elephants are in desert only, ect) And what about the Crab? Not much info (aside from clickbaity YTs, no thanks) on where they spawn - how do I find these trenches, and would a custom map include them by default? Map was created recently [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Apr 2019 09:48 PM PDT is it bugged? it seems like only 3 people can teleport to the same grid (to multiple beds) before the max company travel limit kicks in and blocks you from porting there for 3 mins [link] [comments]
Posted: 19 Apr 2019 05:11 AM PDT So firstly the colony servers are a step in the right direction, however there needs to be a threat of retaliation during a raid to a company during war time. What I am saying by this is as of now you have 9 hours to sit back and basically watch people throw themselves at a flag under war time, and if the company that is being the aggressor is currently in peace time you have no way of retaliation. The peace or war time needs to have a double edge sword effect. If you are attacked the company that attacks you is flagged for war as well (even under normal peace hours) for a certain number of hours (2 hours would seem fair as it gives the defender time to splinter cell off and maybe capture their land). It would add another layer of thought to an attacker as well as give defenders a chance to divert back to the aggressors island. [link] [comments]

Too Many Grids Needed (Dedicated Server Talk) Posted: 19 Apr 2019 05:36 AM PDT I enjoyed Ark, not for anything official, but because as a dedicated server owner we could pretty much play how we wanted to and have things in place to offset some of the more asinine game design. We did boss battles, but overall it was not why we played the game, but without a mod we felt like we had to do them to unlock more advanced gear. Now Atlas is a whole other beast and it is proving to not be solo/small server friendly. With each new 'Mega Patch" it seems they are adding more islands that require more server space. Not everyone wants or can afford to have much more than a 2x2 map or a 3x3, yet it is becoming increasingly needed because of these long quests that require multiple islands/trenches. I get that they are trying to make this an MMO (which is pretty much laughable at this point), but can they not make it so that small servers can have options to still complete or obtain goals without needed so many new quest islands? I keep hoping for something like a mod where you can get all quest stones on one island. Now it looks like you need 9 trenches and they plan on adding yet another island with a dungeon on it. This gameplay without options for smaller servers is going to run off many folks who simply cannot run or afford that many grids. It's cool you have these quest chains that require travel, but please do keep in mind that some of us would like to learn things like the submarine without needing more than 9 servers. Looking for waterfalls, please help Posted: 18 Apr 2019 04:00 PM PDT I once saw an island with a nice waterfall near the edge of the island above a cliff, with a long river feeding it up above, and a land ramp leading up to it, wanted to make a base there but wipe was hitting soon so didn't bother. Now I find myself looking for that same Island so I can make my base up there, but can't find it. And I though that maybe we could share our Waterfall spots that we find. I really love building little villages near them and would love help finding them on Islands if any1 wants to help me find some, please post a screen shot of it as well as maybe a picture of the map with your red X for the location on the island you found it on please :) [link] [comments] |
