100% chance of 183764729 tornados spawning on your ship when it rains.

What's the point? Does this make the game fun for anybody? I'd actually prefer if they were stronger but spawned wayyyyyyyyyyyy less regularly.

Allow shipbuilding to be a career

    Posted: 22 Jan 2019 04:13 AM PST

My company enjoys building ships. Please give us the ability to sell them.

all we need is a sell button on the rose wheel.

some folks dont like the time it takes to build a large ship, but have gold/resources they could trade.

anybody else think they would like this option?

Petition - Change Fountain of Youth quest line

    Posted: 22 Jan 2019 04:50 AM PST

My clan discussed this last night and this whole idea of being forced to go on a quest to get young or be punished is ridiculous.

Keep an extremely difficult quest to add the buff for those that want it. Just give us casual players a simple place to go to and drink from to lower our age, if we want. Maybe even an offering of something like gold.

Maybe we want to be old and cranky. i dont need to be punished for it. (stats debuff)

    all those in favor?

Transferring Server/ Grid/ Fast Traveling + Losing Your Character Bug.

    Posted: 22 Jan 2019 08:13 AM PST

There's a massive bug going on right now that needs to get the attention of Grapeshot.

Earlier today I lost my character due to fast traveling from D12 to my home grid. It gave me an message saying "Travel Failed, Unable To Start Transfer" so I relogged and after that I have only received the prompt to make a brand new character.

No one else on my current grid can sail through or fast travel either.

(Keeping grid private since its pvp)

    Edit:

I already posted on the forums and created a ticket, its been about 5 hours now so I figured I would post it elsewhere to create more awareness.

How I enjoy playing solo (NA PVE)

    Posted: 22 Jan 2019 03:39 AM PST

First I have to admit, it may not sound like what a "pirate game" should be, and any upcoming change/patch can break this way of gameplay entirely, but I would still like to share it.

May it encourage anyone to try or let the devs know this kind of gameplay works (for now at least).

I've been playing NA PVE solo and living on lawless island ever since launch.

Built a schooner but still not ready to use it since in the current state of the game we should always expect to lose the ship when setting sail.

Sloops are fairly cheap to build and repair, with decent handling and cargo space for one single player, making it a nice vessel for solos to travel around.

Currently my motivation is treasure map, it gives me a purpose to sail out and enjoy the sailing part of the game.

It is totally solo-able to do common and fine treasure maps, any higher tier map yields too much gold for a solo player to carry, no need to bite more than what I can chew.

I am surprised how well melee combat works to deal with treasure map enemies, army of the damned are not deadly but still pose some threats, crossing blades and landing my sword on enemy's shield is awesome

(at least until some patch breaks it and makes it unplayable for solo players).

Venture out on a sloop alone, feel the suspense when sailing through a thick fog at night in the middle of the ocean, experience the awe when landing on a foreign island you know nothing about, move and climb carefully to avoid or deal with aggressive animals, finding a way to reach the treasure

(except when the location is glitched or impossible to reach)

And above all, you are not losing too much if your sloop sinks.

Sailing in the mist alone...or with Ship of the Damned

I know, this sounds more like a drifting hobo more than a pirate, but at least this is how I find the game still enjoyable when there are all kinds of issues, bugs, griefers.

It's a pity that a pirate game can't be enjoyed in a very pirate way right now by playing solo, the potential loss and gain is not balanced enough to encourage those gameplay, and even this way of gameplay is fragile if resource spawn breaks again, or the old age kills my character because I refuse to rush a bloody fountain guarded by creatures not intended for solo players (or any player actually) to pass.

Still, hope this post offers you a way to at least still kind of enjoy the game a bit; it certainly gave me a lot of good screenshots along the journey, so that if the game eventually becomes unplayable one day, we still have some memories of good times recorded.

    Shipyards, Snapping and You!

    Posted: 22 Jan 2019 02:46 AM PST

    As per the title.

How many of us would like shipyards to be snappable to other building elements?

Creating a wharf/dock/port area with a non-snappable building component can end up being clunky, wasteful and end up not looking as good as it could.

I see no reason as to why it cannot be snappable.

    Thoughts?

    Remove structure cap on ships.

    Posted: 22 Jan 2019 04:52 AM PST

It's aggravating, serves no purpose other than to hurt creativity. If we have the weight there should be no limitations other than the boundary box which already serve the purpose of balancing PvP where it matter( protecting planks). It doesn't feel bad on smaller ships because you don't have the room anyway so you rarely hit the structure cap. Hell I bet a lot of people don't even know there's a cap. but on Brigs and especially Galleons it's massively limiting. Why you ask? Because the 30 miles of freakin rope ladders we need actually count towards structure and half walls/sloped walls count as full walls AND objects too( like stations)... The bigger the ship, the less creative leeway you have. So, being one of likely many sad ship builders I kindly ask the community to upvote the shit out of this so devs take notice. ( 200+ upvotes remember!?;0)

EDIT: My concession if not deemed possible: Objects and rope ladders need to be excluded from the structure count and the count needs to consider half units for half/sloped walls.

    Few question about pillars.

    Posted: 22 Jan 2019 04:03 AM PST

So I don't know if it's just me, but having to do this whole fence foundation work around is getting old. Is there some game breaking reason why pillars don't attach to corners?? Also, can we get some different style pillars as well? Some like the ark ones (square and THICC) and maybe some Roman inspired ones like we see on so many of these islands?

    Tier 3 Shoulder Mounts

    Posted: 22 Jan 2019 10:23 AM PST

I think it would be cool to have "upgraded" versions of the starter shoulder mounts that combine buffs.

    Examples:

Owl - Provides predator warning and intelligence buff with greater scaling than Crows or Rabbits.

Otter - Provides insulation and oxygen buff with greater scaling than Parrot or Seagull.

Badger - Provides health and spoil timer buffs with greater scaling than Monkeys or Vultures and lashes out with claws against nearby enemies.

That sort of thing, basically condensed versions that are rarer and harder to tame, but desirable as well.

Suggestion: Two birds with one stone - Alleviating impact of offline raiding & Incentivizing raiding simultaneously

Suggestion: Two birds with one stone - Alleviating impact of offline raiding & Incentivizing raiding simultaneously

Have you ever woken up just to find all your ships at the bottom of the bay from 4am raids?

Have you ever spent 100s of cannonballs and hours of time cracking into someones base only to find that while they have resources to loot the weight capacity of your boat limits any looting to such an extent that you would have been better off just farming resources by hand instead?

I don't think anyone would disagree this game has a serious lack of offline protection, and the only real incentive to raid people is out of spite as looting isn't very lucrative.

Now imagine if there was an ability, perhaps the last skill in the upcoming magic school, that allowed you to cast a spell that shrunk your ship and placed it in an enchanted bottle.

This would allow you to better protect your boats while you are offline, as you could place them in bottles and place said bottles in crates behind 10 layers of walls, meaning the 4am raider would have to bring 1000 cannonballs, a ship and possibly even a cannon cart, instead of a ramsackle sloop and 2 explosive barrels to take your galleon from you.

This would also incentivize raiding as the reward for breaking into someones base could be 10 readymade ships in easy(light) to carry bottles instead of loads of timber stone and metal which you can barely carry any of and would have acquired faster by just farming them yourself.

When you need your boat again you could simply throw the bottle where you want to spawn your boat and it would return to original size.(careful not to drop the bottle on land!!)

There would ofcourse need to be a decently long cast time so you cant despawn a ship in the middle of a battle, and a decent cooldown too I imagine.

    TL;DR;

-Despawning boats into bottle items from which they can be respawned at will

-Imagine the difficulty increase to offline raiding

-imagine the feeling of looting 10+ fully built ships

Shouldnt even be too hard to implement.
