So we are accepting the stone building cost already?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2019 06:07 AM PST

Do we accepted the stone building cost? All the previous post (even with the changes) are now dead. They ignored us and now we are ok?

PSA: It is ok to stop playing a game and come back later if you are not happy with it

    Posted: 28 Jan 2019 10:39 AM PST

It bothers me the number of posts here about people quitting because of the various balancing issues and bugs the game has.

This game is unique atm because it fills a niche that has been sitting there unfulfilled since Pirates of the Burning Sea (old school pirate MMO). Don't even mention Sea of Thieves.

If you continue to play a game after it is no longer fun, you are only hurting yourself. It is ok to come back later and see where the game is at and if you feel like it would be fun to give it another try.

Now that being said, I know a lot of you guys dont want to give up your land or the homes you have made but heres the thing, I don't see this game improving to most of you guys satisfaction anytime soon. Eventually you will just be logging in to not lose your stuff (if you live in lawless). Don't get to this point.

Quit a game on a high point rather than letting your perception of it wither away until it turns into hatred for the game.

For those of you in a PVP server that want to do this.

Build a fleet of the biggest and baddest ships you can, armed to the teeth. Demo all your building for resources and such to make it happen if you have to. Grab some NPCs from the freeports (after getting some gold). And go sail into a mega corps home and start shooting their stuff, they will respond. Go out in the glorious flames of combat. And once all the dust and gunpowder settles go ahead and shut down the game and find something else to play until you return to the high seas of Atlas again.

For those of you that are more...peaceful (or in a pve server).

Grab a schooner with a large speed sail and a small speed sail (fastest ship in the game other than a 6 speed sail galleon) and load it with as much provisions and repair materials as you can (skip the cannons and ammo) and just go out and explore. Find new places and just have fun finding the awesome places of interest in this game (there a many, trust me). Once you have had your fill of exploring go ahead and log off and find something else to play until you return to Atlas to rebuild your home (they will probably have fixed claims by then).

Can we have a tavern to store npc that are not in use, could cost less gold to store them there.?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2019 11:20 AM PST

I dunno, just find im wasting my gold having 12 npc on my ships cannons all day is a waste of gold.

If i could store them in a tavern or something while not using them im sure the accidental whistles and whatnot wouldnt be as frequent.

Ps having them cost no gold while in there or little to no gold to rehire from inside. Maybe a max number of npc per tavern i dunno.

Just dont wanna log on and have no crew, nowhere close to get crew, have to kill sotd or go to a freeport all the time.

I doubt this is going to hit the thresh hold for important, but can we get a sanity check on basic cooking?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2019 10:14 AM PST

Simple recipes should be simple. Vegetable, berry, meat, etc. No specific types, no reliance on cooking herbs since only half the islands have them (or make them farmable). Everyone should be able to access enough of these recipes to make a balanced diet convenient to get. Right now even large organized tribes are subsisting on a suicide diet which seems a bit silly. It's fine for the system to be finnicky for buff foods, but it shouldn't be this annoying just to get basic vitamin intake.

Bonus: prime meat could probably be vitamin balanced instead of increase only to give people a reason to eat it. I think we're all a little scarred from the early days when two pieces of it would blind you.

    Where is the gang plank?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2019 11:40 AM PST

Every pirate moie has one thing that is missing from Atlas, a gang plank.

A removable board that allows player to walk off the boat some distance for whatever need it be, fetch flotsam, board another boat close by, get onto dock or even jump into ocean (by choice or by force).

It should be removable, or at least retractable.

    Idea for Npc management

    Posted: 28 Jan 2019 09:10 AM PST

I was thinking of a new building, like the bank, called the tavern. When in you claim you can send your NPCs to it threw the control wheel. Putting food and ale keeps them happy and maybe cheaper because who would care about a cut in pay if you get free drinks. Then when just look at a cannons control wheel and pick man from tavern.

Atlas PvE is a Classic case of Tragedy of Commons.

    Posted: 28 Jan 2019 08:13 AM PST

    Most Everyone:

    - claims and keeps as much land as they can via flags or pillar/foundations

    - sets taxes as high as possible, no downside of max taxes

    - builds a big as they can, why not, buildings and ship are permanent.

Never seen a better example of this before in an MMO, since early days of UO.

    Bohemian Rhapsody Accordion Free Play

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 05:48 PM PST

    Bohemian Rhapsody Accordion Free Play

It's a long one, but damn is it fun. I couldn't resist a classic. Not so much a pirate theme, but a what's the difference between a long car ride and an overseas voyage? Both need a bit of music.

For easy use, save on a phone and have available when playing the accordion. Other options are windowed mode with this on the side, or using another screen.

Quick guide: letters and numbers are key presses. There is a 'Slow' reminder for the final verse.
Hyphens - How long the note is held. No hyphen means the note is merely pressed.
    Parenthesis () Joint key presses.
Verses I separated the notes to indicate pauses between play and for ease of use.
Spaces There is a section of notes separated by spaces, this indicates a brief pause between notes.
Columns really? dude it is a 6 minute song, I had to. I'm not playing and scrolling my damn phone. PUH LEEZ

LMK if I missed something or messed some shit up.

Good luck conquering this monster. I am loving it so far.

    Spike Walls, PLEASE!

    Posted: 28 Jan 2019 08:26 AM PST

I'd really like to see spike walls implemented, like in ARK or DNL. They'd help tremendously in PvP defense and against wild animals.

Ship planks need some kind of visual indicator of their health...

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 08:45 PM PST

It would be nice if the wood would show as cracked/charred/scarred/whatever to show the severity of damage. It's silly having to mouse over -everything- to see what needs fixin.

Devs, Set accordian to 2nd octave by default, press control to go into 1st octave, shift to go into 3rd.

This isn't that hard. Ocarina of time did this with the gamecube's C-stick. This isn't a new concept....

    Power Stones are IMPOSSIBLE

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 11:57 PM PST

The level of difficulty and just pure luck to required to actually turn in the artifact from hydra nearly impossible, lets break it down real fast.

Kill hydra , get artifact key(it has 2hr decay timer), transport artifact key to island, run artifact into a tiny cave through literally 50 level 100 mobs , past the 10 lvl 80 bats inside the cave to turn it in. Hey, well guess what really happens is you die to the mobs, with your corpse being camped by 10+ mobs which makes grabbing it alone extremely difficult, so either you get it and reset the timer (15min before your corpse disappears) and slowly bring the stone up 2feet at a time to eventually get so many mobs clustered around you can't even get close to your body, it despawns, well gg go kill hydra again for the artifact and repeat.

He's A Pirate Accordion Free Play

    Posted: 28 Jan 2019 06:57 AM PST

He's A Pirate Accordion Free Play

I posted a He's A Pirate Free Play sheet as my first visit to the accordion free play, which I later edited to simplify the octave changes since I didn't understand what I was doing the first go around. After spending time on Bohemian Rhapsody--and the 8 others I have written up--I get it. I did He's A Pirate wrong, hence the edit as a placeholder while I fixed the sheet. I also found numerous other mistakes I made, so here is a fresh version, from a more experienced accordion monkey.

Now with octave changes and timings, from the classic Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack: He's a Pirate.

For easy use, save on a phone and have available when playing the accordion. Other options are windowed mode with this on the side, or using another screen.

Quick guide: letters and numbers are key presses.
Hyphens - How long the note is held. No hyphen means the note is merely pressed.
Verses I separated the notes to indicate pauses between play and for ease of use.
Spaces There is a section of notes separated by spaces, this indicates a brief pause between notes. Otherwise spaces are merely used as a tool to show when an octave change is happening.

Apologies again for the first go around of He's A Pirate. My post 2 weeks ago was pretty off from how it should be played.

    Farming/claimed zone PVE queation

    Posted: 28 Jan 2019 10:32 AM PST

Hello Quick question, I started playing about a week ago in a lawless Zone. I find that I need some materials that seem to be available in a regular Zone adjacent to me. What happens if I go to a claimed land and farm the materials I need? Will I automatically be taxed on the materials? Or is it just bad adequate.

Losing discovery points instead of gaining them

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 06:39 PM PST

Not sure if the devs are noticing this yet, but discovery points seem to be VERY bugged right now, I just killed a whale with my company and gained the 50 points, but later after logging on i saw that i was once again locked at level 60. ( i just earned a level 62 level cap from the discovery before logging out) Please take a look at this so that it can be fixed please, It's hard enough having to wait for me to discover islands to get a level and then in turn earn a respec.

Also, I am currently playing on NA PVE

    Thank you!

And thanks for the upvotes, didnt realize it was happening outside of my company as well! (Atlas Shrugged)

    Regarding NPC crew while sailing

    Posted: 28 Jan 2019 02:26 AM PST

So I'm noticing a ton of options regarding grouping when it comes to cannons and NPC crew, and it seems like there could easily be a way to move crew from one side of the boat to the other while using a lieutenant podium or steering wheel. So if I have 10 cannons manned in the group "right" , can I give a command to move the crew to man the cannons on group "left" without actively ordering them off, ordering them to follow, and then putting each of them on another cannon? I feel like if this was possible I wouldn't need 20 NPC crew to utilize all of my cannons in battle. Thoughts?

Give us the ability to create music notes and equip instruments to our NPCs.

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 06:48 PM PST

It shouldn't be too hard right? Also being able to implement delays and holds on certain notes would be very time consuming but so wooooorth it!

I would love to figure out the notes to "Naruto - Blue Birds" and have my NPCs play it over and over as I sail the seas. Would be soothing. 😆

    Darude Sandstorm Accordion Free Play

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 05:38 PM PST

    Darude Sandstorm Accordion Free Play

Ask and ye shall receive-- u/Jmac460 wanted some sandstorms. I guess the tornadic waterspouts weren't enough for ya.
    Good luck pal.

For easy use, save on a phone and have available when playing the accordion. Other options are windowed mode with this on the side, or using another screen.

It is repetitive and I didn't want it to take up much space. When it says to repeat, it refers to the verse I.E. H-FF x7 repeats just that and the x3 is for those 4 lines above it, the entire verse, below set 1.

Guide Letters are your key presses for notes. Numbers are your octave changes, of course exclude the repeat notation.
Repeats x Repeating a verse is notified below the verse by the letter 'x' followed by the amount of times total to play that verse, so x3 means you only play that verse 3 times, not 3 additional times. Darude repeats the majority of the first half--referred to above as set 1--following a small verse. Repeat set 1 in its entirety, then continue back.

Ellipsis ... The ... refers to continued playing. If a line ends in ellipsis, this means the following line or verse does not call for a pause before playing and that they are only organized this way for ease of reading.
Hyphens - How long the note is held; if no hyphen is present after a note, it is only pressed.
Space A space between notes demonstrates a brief pause before the following note.
LMK how much I suck at explaining and I'll polish it up.
Safe sailing, hope sandstorm is the only thing that hits you.
