QOL improvement: add treasure maps grid to their name making it possible to filter by grid

    Posted: 18 Feb 2019 01:27 AM PST

Just like the title says, it would be a massive QOL improvement if I could use the inventory filter to only view maps from the grids I'm interested in! At the moment it's a pain and involves setting up a good filing system.

What if flotsam was a major source of resources?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2019 01:40 AM PST

Pirate game.... all resources land based... how to get people off the land and on the ocean...

Maybe... we can farm needed resources while sailing?

Suppose NPC wrecks spawn and contain large amounts of random resources, local to your grid. Maybe some of it's floating and you can just scoop it up and maybe a lot of it is at the bottom of the ocean and must be salvaged. We're talking like salvaging a wreck and getting 10,000 cooper. Or 40,000 jute. Maybe there are small wrecks and big wrecks but the idea is you could do this as an alternate to farming. Maybe it's even better than farming in terms of yield per hour.

This is a game about sailing but also necessarily a game about resource gathering. There must be a solution that combines the two.

Wildcard, you think you fixed breeding, but you didn't really.

    Posted: 18 Feb 2019 01:02 AM PST

You made it slightly easier by removing the temperature control, but to be honest, nothing changed really.
There still has to be someone there 24/7, which was the case with the temperature controlling anyways.

If you leave render range the baby, juv or adolescent wont eat so starves to death.
Not viable at all for your planned "make the game more accessible to solo style plays"
Not viable for medium based companies that have other things happening in the are a that need attention.
Not viable for larger based companies that eventually have members who want to sleep.

You've done a great job with the last patch so can you add the polishing touches now to the breeding.

Is there a way to upgrade floors that show up as ""is Obstructed". (even through admin commands/ingame workaround/through ini files/workshop mod)

    Posted: 18 Feb 2019 09:50 AM PST

It's getting annoying to remove stuff from the floor, place the upgraded floor, and rebuild the thing you removed. Is there away to upgrade floors without removing anything from it?

Ryzen 1800X @ 4.0GHz - seeing 40%-60% CPU utilization on ALL 16 threads! Game still has stutters & gets bad FPS drops.

    Posted: 18 Feb 2019 06:59 AM PST

    Dear ATLAS Dev's,

Good on you for using all those threads, to where as other companies struggle to do so, when the resources are there.

However, I'm still getting stutters on occasion, mainly on larger islands. Given how much processing power the game is using I don't think this should even remotely be the case. There are a few other games, similar in nature, that use < 1/2 the resources, and have almost zero stutters and higher FPS. Just wondering if I need to examine what the nature of the workload is that's running in the background within the game and see if something funky is going on that shouldn't.

    Dear ATLAS Gaming Community,

Is anyone else with a 4C/8T - 6C/12T - 8C/16T (or more) seeing similar CPU utilization, and still getting stutters on occasion? Did you have these issues, and find a resolution for them?

    [1800X OC'd 4GHz (under 60*C temps), 3200Mhz C14 RAM, 1080ti (under 40*C temps), Win10x64 (latest updates), Discord/Steam/Peripheral Macro Apps - only background processes]

They fixed it so that heatwaves and coldsnaps don't kill breeds, fantastic change, much appreciated
Today my bear died to overheating at 10c, well within it's supposed safe range, what the hell?

How about we make Fully Anchored Boats in claimed territory unsinkable after an X timer but "incapacitate-able" and 2x/3x as expensive to make?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2019 11:24 AM PST

Yo fellow Pathfinders and in particular: Grapeshot,

I just got to watch this video and it gave me some ideas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAgbrlYQljY

It shows 1 armored boat sinking over 10 other boats (including Galleons) in a matter of minutes. I know this video shows an extreme and not the first example, and probably not the last either. But players having the ability to destroy other people's work (not just boats) with a ratio of more than 50:1 (time to build:time to destroy) is simply Off-putting and Not Fun. It's bad design if players are punished for going to sleep, school, work etc. In a way it's even disrespectful to your overall player-base. I can imagine a smaller (unemployed) portion of the player-base having no problem with this, but I cannot imagine this being your target audience. You wanted to make Atlas an MMO, right?

So I wonder: How about we make Fully Anchored Boats in claimed territory unsinkable after an X amount of time, but "incapacitate-able" and 2x/3x as expensive to make? I mean, let's be honest, what point is there in sinking your enemies ships while the're fully anchored anyway, besides grieving (which is a problem in this game in itself). Let me sum up some things, including what I see as positive points. After reading all that, I'd love you guys to add even more to the list, or completely destroy my proposal. After all, I'm just a random internet guy and combined you're all far smarter than I am ;)

    • You'd still be able to render an enemy ship unusable (incapacitated), so it cannot be used in a defensive way by your enemies.
    • It'll add an opportunity to further incentivize ship capturing, instead of the mindless destruction of all the things with a red name tag. This is supposed to be a pirate game after all. Pirates were smart and preferred to board and steal, rather than to sink.
    • The mechanic would (should) not impact other zones like Freeports or boss islands. So over-cluttered seas should not become a thing.
    • Ships would get more value as the're harder to build, but also less likely to be lost due to broken or poorly thought-out game mechanics.
    • Spending time on giving your ship that unique (company) look by painting or nicely done buildings will no longer be a waste of yout time, as you'll have some certainty of being able to use and enjoy the ship for a while. (A little bit of RP ftw?)
    • Only wood can be used on ships, so getting the loot off of a ship will still be possible.
    • Kamikaze ships will be less likely to be a use-able tactic, due to the added cost in resources.
    • You'll have a good chance to still own your ships after an attack, which leaves you with the ability to properly re-locate and recover from an attack.
    • And most importantly, the game is less likely to lose heartbroken players who get completely demotivated and fed up with the game, community and developers due to losing progress in a seemingly unfair or undeserved way.
    • Add your point here...

So! I could probably come up with more things, but if you've read it all you have probably gotten the point. Now it's your turn, add to or demolish the proposal. Either way it'll be feedback the developers can make use of! :)

An Idea to counter foundation & Pillar spamming

    Posted: 18 Feb 2019 11:15 AM PST

Claims are a mess, and lawless isn't much better with people spamming foundations & pillars everywhere, so here's my idea to counter that.

Make foundations cost twice or even 3 times the mats, and the first foundation placed would be a "core" foundation (maybe it would have a large Star or something to identify it on it). All foundations after that would have to be connected to that "core" foundation in someway or they would not be placable. Each player has 2 Core foundations per map region and can only have 2 placed at any time in that region. This would allow for players to have a base and a taming trap at the same time without allowing them to claim massive amounts of lawless land. Pillars would then have to also be connected to the core foundation as well. Fencing would have a much shorter decay timer if not connected to the core foundation.

This would encourage companies not to spam and build upwards rather then outwards.

This way you would have to spend much more mats and create long pathways all still connected to your main base if you wanted to claim a large area.

    New ship types?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2019 10:51 AM PST

Going down a wiki rabbit hole looking at ships used back in the day, I began to wonder what might be the future classes of ships that they may add in. What class or size ships do you guys think the should add in and if they should have specific uses tailored to them like more weight, speed or guns. For example a whaling boat might have room for more ballista at the front and rear but not the sides. Or a cutter type ship more speed but less manuverability.

    Offlined yet again....

    Posted: 18 Feb 2019 10:22 AM PST

This has to be put to an end. I don't know why, of all the fixes you guys did after listening to us, that this is still a thing, blows my mind. Please listen to me Jat quite clearly:

YOU HAVE TO STOP OFFLINING OR THIS GAME WILL DIE.

The recent changes were much needed and well received but has honestly resolved NOTHING in terms of offlining. A 300% buff to anchored ships is great, but that just made it SLIGHTLY more of a pain, but absolutely did nothing to dissuade the 4am griefing spree our Asian friends constantly go on. Offlining due to time zone difference is killing your game above and beyond any other mechanic we hate ( namely vitamins).

A few NPC CREW vs Animals & Monster Fights SPOILER ALERT YETIS TOTALLY WIPED US!

    Posted: 18 Feb 2019 08:35 AM PST

Quality of life updates should be talked about before they implemented.

    Posted: 18 Feb 2019 08:25 AM PST

The current way QOL updates are implemented I think is waisting a lot of valuable time and effort for the people working on this game. With the latest patch it's more than apparent the devs do care about what the community wants and our feedback, but I think the process needs to change. To be more specific I'm talking about changes like nerfs and buffs, specificly looking at things like the stone structure change and the way weapons have evolved, what I'm not talking about is new content. The process is right now, is the devs roll out a update and the players respond with feedback. This process leads to the team working on and discussing the same things over and over using valuable time on one issuse, time that could be used fixing other things or creating new content. This process is slow and fundamentally flawed, and needs to be changed. I propose QOL ideas and nerfs and buffs be polled or discussed in a forum style post prior to being implemented. For example: Should stone walls additionally cost paste and alloy to construct? Simply asking this question before it was implemented would have saved the devs so much time and effort. Again I'm not talking about asking questions that would spoil content additions to the game. With this kind of system you get the feedback before you do the work, and I'm not saying it's a perfect system or that the players should design every portion of this game. But it should streamline the process and allow for more time to work on new content as well as other pressing issues.

Those who have stopped playing: What was the final straw?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2019 01:48 PM PST

On privates was extremely non-professional "admins" and shady recruitment practices.

On officials it was the grind. I mean, there is a lot to unpack there but the grind really tops my list.

I know I'll be back to playing at some point.. I took something like a year off from Ark too before I moved on.

I play on official NA PVE with a small company calles the Plebberson Pirates. One of our members has been tirelessly working on a bear breeding program. I went to grab one of the bears for some harvesting and found them surrounded by another company's walls. Any ideas on how to get them out or make the company wish they hadn't messed with us?

An open letter to any company that holds claims flags and still finds it necessary to attack lawless.

    Posted: 18 Feb 2019 03:33 AM PST

    NA PVP

STOP... Seriously. We play here because we can't maintain claim flags. Go fight over there with the big boys. Let us deal with our shit and constant box box language fights.

At least the box box dudes try to raid while we are online. Some of you megas are over here off line raiding and posting those sick YouTube videos like it was some crazy pvp fight. Don't lie, we know what happened.

Otherwise, we are always looking for alliances to get off this lawless shit hole.

PM me if you have something in mind or just wanna be friends or need a place to also be offline raided.
