Rendering Distance not acceptable! IT is 2019! Posted: 04 Mar 2019 06:23 AM PST Hi, who else thinks the rendering distance ist just not acceptable. Not even for EA. Its getting worse since the start. It has a negative effect on the gameplay itself. Have to wait minutes in front of the island till you can sail in in slow mo mode? Taking damage , waiting 3 minutes, then a shipyard renders? Yes the Rendering Distane Opion is on High and no its has nothing todo with the local graphic card perfomance. JFYI: RTX 2080 Devs should put focus on this instead of new features. thx guys [link] [comments]
Make NPCs request gold every 24hr not 1-2.6 Posted: 04 Mar 2019 07:55 AM PST Keep the total gold amount the same but please let it be on a 24hr request timer. Or make the tax bank pay out to all the NPCs on the Island. [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Mar 2019 06:19 AM PST It would be nice to have a way to plan out a ship design on a web page instead of private server or live. I don't know how difficult that would be to make but if you could bring it up on your phone and also show the total cost of materials, planks, ceilings etc that would be cool. [link] [comments]

Average ship blueprints quality? Posted: 04 Mar 2019 06:59 AM PST I've been wondering this for a long time and we have some data from lower quality BPs, but I would like to know it even for higher qualities, so if anyone has more data, please share it with us. Planks and gunports (durability): Cannons (damage): Sails (velocity): Obviously the procs will vary, but I'm talking about average over 10+ blueprints. [link] [comments]

War Time, Vulnerability Time, and issues with this system. Posted: 04 Mar 2019 10:43 AM PST After reading the entire notes on the Captain's Log, it feels like there are a lot of misconceptions about this system:
The most common misconception I've seen from people that I've had discussions with about this system is not understanding that players are also immune to PvP outside of the vulnerable window. This means that if you go to someone else's island, even for something like a treasure map, they can kill you with impunity. To me this is the ultimate marker that the pendulum has swung too far to the PvE side. I like most of these changes but players, and most likely tames also, should always be killable from both a thematic and raw gameplay standpoint. Why are people just becoming actual gods on their island 13 hours a day? Making their structures unraidable outside of vuln time is enough here to allow players significantly more persistence than they had previously.
It's unclear to me whether or not a cannon on a tame's cart will be functional outside of war time (during vulnerable time). My gut would be that they should be, but it's not 100% clear. If carted cannons are usable during this time then at least that's something. If they aren't, then how exactly is anything actually VULNERABLE during a companies 9 hour vulnerability window? If you can't use any cannons during this timeframe, nothing will be raidable outside of war time. That's a scary idea for the future of the PvP setting of this game. Please clarify this point. @/u/Jatheish
To me, this is a MAJOR red flag that this system is not properly thought out. It doesn't take a public test server to see the obvious flaw in this system. Companies will have alt characters in a non-allied company declare war on themselves, push the timer out as far as possible (1 week!), and make themselves completely invulnerable for long periods of time, if not indefinitely. They'll be invulnerable for 1 week, plus the length of the war, plus the cooldown time. It doesn't matter how significant the cost of the war token is. This will be abused, as written. A way to alter this system to be less abusable, is to allow multiple wars to be declared on a company, with some restrictions. Since an alt company would likely consist of very few characters, and since you clearly want to limit the amount of people that are able to raid a company at a time, just make a maximum number of characters be able to declare war on an island. If an alt tribe declares war, it'll only be 1 character declaring war, so a company with a size of 249 or less will still be able to declare war on that island. Etc. [link] [comments]
In game auto translate and canned lines Posted: 03 Mar 2019 07:40 PM PST I love playing with people around the world, and I'd love it even more if in game chat had auto google translate and canned lines that are community translated to use (lines such as "I'm here for treasure hunting", "I'm peaceful", "I'm sorry", "Thanks", "No hard feelings" etc.) [link] [comments]

Player Market and island changes. Posted: 04 Mar 2019 07:50 AM PST Let me get straight to the point.Player with the changes that need to be made to the market and islands. Martket : - Allow to sell any items, bp, animal in in the game. ( except for temporary tames ). - Allow to recieve as payment anything the player sets as price ( For example i want to sell a horse, but instead of gold i want copper, or sulfur) -Allow players to sell the submarine in the market ( for those who can't reach the end game ). -Allow players to sell fully built boats? Island redesign:- Add grass /bushes to the artic regions.- Nerf Yeti aggro range ( as every artic region there is an overspawn of yetis- Nerf Yeti HP and damage stats. ( too powerful for people who live there and try to farm ) - Reduce the cost of fur armor so starting players on wipe can live right away in forzen regions. - Reduce Cobra and rattleSnake aggro range. - Reduce Cobra torpor damage ( 1 hit when naked is instant knock out ). - Shuffle the islands. - Add 2 more islands per tile ( currently only 3 or 2 per tile ) [link] [comments]

PVP-Offline Raiding. Like or dont? And why? Posted: 04 Mar 2019 05:52 AM PST I just started playing PVP about 4 weeks ago just for fun. Wound up actually doing okay as a Solo and enjoying it, so I don't wanna go back to PVE. And of course I got offline raided everytime and lost my ship lol And I was a little upset after all the hours of work. But after building a new ship, I found a few players bases who were sleeping so I raided them. I got all the materials back in about 10 minutes that I had lost in a week. And I mean people do it to me everytime I log off so might as well even it up. So I was able to get back my motivation to engage in more PVP and ship battles. But I felt bad about taking that dudes shit, because he had no way to defend himself. So let's hear it, thoughts about Offline Raiding [link] [comments]
How do we feel about the rightclick option for npcs on cannons? Posted: 04 Mar 2019 05:07 AM PST I'm talking about the shoot this target option and just let em do their thing. Its nice for pve stuff but don't know if it should really have be an option. If the leftclick manual firemode was the only thing you could do it would make the fights less automated. Atlas: A Glimpse into Doomsday Posted: 04 Mar 2019 10:56 AM PST After playing this game for three months it has finally dawned on me that if a catastrophic doomsday event ever happens in the real world, it's probably best to try to survive on your own. Or at least screen people you run across by first asking them if they played the game 'Atlas.' Can anyone else imagine forming a new community and putting in place a system of government with Atlas players? What's left of humanity after the doomsday event is destined to fail. We would all be f*cked. -- Then again, that's assuming that fat, nerdy gamers are actually capable of surviving without electricity, running water and the internet. Maybe I'm giving the player base too much credit. [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Mar 2019 04:57 AM PST Not going to lie about it but reading the dev log for march makes me actually sad. Not only is my initial time investment basically worth less but they also basically change the game I started liking to a degree where it is no longer what it was except yes.. build, tame, sail around. After reading the PvE change logs the only picture I have in my head is the ARK pillar spam which was the reason why I couldn´t play official anymore. The claiming system for PvE wasn´t such a bad idea, just the claim spam was a bit much. If you add 200 new islands (more space) and limit claim flags to 1 or 2 .. why not keep them? PvE will look like lawless islands which were horribly looking places.
Really? why not. Why can´t we have claims on PvE and at least protect a bit of land before some maniac comes by and just places a foundation on your metal resource?
I would play PvP tbh but 9h vulnerability? You need the following: 1 company member per settlement, vulnerability 1h. 2 company member per settlement 2h etc. Scale it with the size of the company owning the settlement. 9h right now is not possible for anyone who works. What a bummer that you again get forced into bigger companies, I thought you wanted to make it also fun for smaller company or solo players? I kind of getting the feeling you tried to implement most of the random player ideas thrown into the room while a few people of the current player base hated on the current system. And yes while it was not perfect it actually made sense to some degree. You could have kept it and just updated it slightly to limit a maximum of claims to 1 or 2 and that´s it. All that player wanted was more space to settle down. Not really sure how I should feel. I could understand if you wipe but I absolutly HATE you for deleting character progression. The tedious hours and hours where I sailed from island to island to get +1 max level. The grind and grind and grind through alphas to get exp to level up. The freaking death runs to get my 10% bonus buff. All gone.. basically the last 3 month that I gave you as time to test your "pirate ark game" you delete, throw it away and then let me restart with your new identity game that still has no identity. "Players who reached level 60 before the wipe will receive XYZ unique vanity item, we consider them our most important initial settlers to get that game in the right direction, thus we give you some minor vanity shit to show off" Not even this. Nothing, just wipe it all. Good lord.. community driven development by someone who has not really a direction. Its like sailing with the wind, straight into an island cause you left the steering wheel alone [link] [comments]

Building on front of ships requires foundation support? Posted: 03 Mar 2019 04:10 PM PST
| ||
Posted: 03 Mar 2019 01:38 PM PST It takes so much time to gather enough resources just to build a decently sized ship and not to mention the time it takes to build up a company from nothing and the claims, the amount of duped materials lost, the people who hacked their way to the top, the giant islands that were claimed by a handful of people... I can see how it is going to upset the people who had it all. However, I am really glad that there is going to be a wipe and I am going to be coming back to the game the day the wipe hits. In my opinion this was one of the best decisions the devs have made until now and I fully support this decision. And it just puts a smile on my face when I think about all the duped resources and hacked gains that exploiters will have lost because of this wipe. Honestly the people who are going to be most upset about this are those exploiters. And any big company won't be affected much by the wipe since if they really have a lot of players in their company, then this is more of an opportunity for them to take a better position on the map and they will be back in power in no time. However those who are gonna complain about losing claims or land, should not have held so much of it in the first place because if you can't take the same land twice then you should not have had it in the first place. Overall, I like where this game is going and it seems like the devs understand what is going to keep the game going in the long run. I can't wait to get back into the game after the wipe. And to those people who are complaining about the wipe I just want to say "Tough luck, deal with the wipe or wait until full release, this is what early access is for". [link] [comments]
What are your bets on a BIG Post-Wipe Release Launch FAIL? Posted: 04 Mar 2019 06:41 AM PST
Why not ask the community and really include their opinion? Its 2019! You see all the Big Studios fail not listening to the community what they want... Get a full time community manger, there are technical means to gather the opinions and get what most of the people want.... Like what issues fix first, fix issues before new features, .... The game has awesome potential but its easy to loose every motivation quickly as it runs now.. imho gl hf guys [link] [comments]
