How is the game at this point? (not playing since January)

    Posted: 26 Apr 2019 05:11 AM PDT

    How's the game?

Did they fix the optimization? or is it still bad?

    Did they do the wipe?

And in general, how much has the game changed since January?

Remove the skill point requirement to wear/use blueprinted gear.

    Posted: 26 Apr 2019 12:14 PM PDT

The point of blueprints, I think, is to get people sailing around more. You want 3 different types of metal? You need to sail somewhere to get it. Now you have a better carbine.

In order to wear, use, and therefore, care about BP gear, I have to spend points in multiple trees to do it. By the time I can shoot gold guns, wear gold armor, wield a gold melee weapon and swing a gold pick, I've had to invest a lot of points in a lot of trees I might have preferred to avoid.

The whole blueprint / "go forth and gather" system would probably be a lot stronger if everyone could actually use those items. Let the hard part be acquisition, not spending skill points just to be able to use it.

    Piracy in a... Pirate Game?

    Posted: 26 Apr 2019 10:31 AM PDT

    Where is the true piracy?

This game lacks the ability to be a true pirate. Yes, you're able to sail around and dig up treasure. Fight ships in the open seas, yet is this truly being a pirate. In my mind, I think not. One of the most piraty things in this game is holding people ransom. I also think bountys will add to the feel a bit more too. Yet, this is still not enough I want to be able to steal ships by hijacking them, not waiting several days to take over a ship with a flag. It's just not piracy. I want to be able to sail around leaving buried treasure chests for people to find.

    -- Stealing Ships

Stealing ships definitely need a rework as it is not really stealing a ship.

First change, anyone can use you ship's wheel as long as your ship is NOT Fully Anchored. You will see why this applies. (Cant steal ship when fully anchored)

Second change, remove the ability to place claim flags on ships.

    STEALING MECHANICS:

On to the mechanic. When you board a ship you can board the wheel to begin the stealing, fighting through the players on the ship. If AI are on the ship they will also attempt to fight you off.

Once you board the wheel a message will be displayed to the enemies, "Your ship, [ship name], is being stolen by [player] in [grid]. Time Remaining: [time]". A timer will appear on the GUI of the player stealing the ship.

The ship Icon on the map will also flash red to show a stealing is attempted. When it is hovered over it will show the time until claimed.

    TIME MECHANICS:

As long as the player is on the ship, the time until claimed will continue to go down since you will need to get off the wheel to fight. The time will count up if the owner of the ship mounts the wheel. On to the claim timer for each ship.

    • Raft/Dinghy: 5 Minutes
    • Sloop: 15 Minutes
    • Schooner: 30 Minutes
    • Brigantine: 45 Minutes
    • Galleon: 1hr

    • If ship is fully anchored in your settlement and time is under 50% and no enemies are on the ship it will auto claim.

I think there should still be an element of time as to give the defenders a chance to fight back and have a chance not to lose their progress very easily.

The "What's your is Mine" in the piracy tree will decrease all claim times by 10 minutes( excluding Rafts/Dinghys )

      CLAIMING THE SHIP:

Once you claim the ship, you will recieve

      • +40% XP buff for 3 Minutes
      • Decent amount of XP
      • The ship (go figure)
      • A bounty placed on your head 》25 Gold for Dinghys 50 Gold for Rafts 100 Gold for Sloops 250 Gold for Schooners 750 Gold for Brigantines 1500 Gold for Galleons
      • The player will also recieve 50% Gold Value of the Bounty given for the ship.

      UNABLE TO CLAIM SHIPS:

If the defenders stop you from taking their ship they should deserve a reward as well. - 40% XP buff for 5 Minutes - A Decent amount of XP - 40% of the bounty gold the ship is worth(above)

    QUESTS:

With this, I want to bring in two neq quests to add more incentive to taking ships.

    • Master Pirate: Steal 5 Galleons

      • 5 Minute Faster Ship Claiming (Excluding Rafts/Dinghys)
      • +30% Damage to AOTD & +30% Gold from Maps
    • Professional Sailor: Defend 5 Galleons from an army of 3 Pirates

      • +5% Sail Velocity
      • +25% Ship Resistance when you are a captain

These quests are definitely subject to change.

    COOLDOWN:

There will be a 6hr cooldown for stealing ships and 3hrs for having your ship stolen to prevent abuse.

Can not steal your ship back until 36hrs have passed.

If you have anything you want to suggest/change to this feel free to comment!

You can also make suggestions to what you want to see!

Has anyone seen the Ghost Ship?

    Posted: 26 Apr 2019 12:25 PM PDT

Hey, we have netted up to 12 hours of sailing on the ghost ships route and have not managed to found it.

Has anyone seen or killed it recently? We were wondering if the route has changed that it sails since the ghost ship icon has changed location on the atlas map.

    Thanks for any info! :)

    Brig new stats distribution

    Posted: 26 Apr 2019 11:58 AM PDT

Looking for a general community consensus of how you all put your stat points into a battle brig. Do you dump most into weight or now that the damage stat was added do people like dumping points into that instead? How are you doing it?

PVE Official.. people already leaving in droves :/

    Posted: 26 Apr 2019 11:03 AM PDT

There's been a lot of friends that I played with during launch that came back and have spent a few days on the game and are like "nope" and leave entirely, no desire to return.

I guess what they're doing is allowing the game to progress, hoping people stick around but if they don't, don't make a big fuss about it then have their big splash when they release on console - after the game has had several more 'mega updates' aka updates.

It's partially that people feel they'll wipe again so they don't see the point to play and a lot of my friends go hardcore or nothing at all.. so if there's a wipe again, why spend endless hours building something that'll be gone in a month or two? I feel the same way. I know some people here wish there was an hourly wipe and think they should just wipe the game constantly, but for a lot of players that's not the case - especially on PVE.

The flag system is another issue.. credit for them trying, its better to try something new than nothing at all.. but this flag system is really bad too, especially being that people can change things on a whim rather it be high tax or you being able to build there again.. it's another 'risk' issue where it's not worth peoples hard grind time to invest in something that can turn into a major issue.

Call it a shitpost, I don't give a fuck tbh, just my rant.. disappointed I suppose because I'd be okay playing this game solo even if it weren't for the stupid flag issues that'll never end with this game and the unkowning of the next wipe. On Ark, I stuck around long term because they didn't wipe EA PVE servers. It had MAJOR problems during the early years but we still had our stuff and still progressed over months and months, keeping neighbors, etc.. it was fun times. Now with Atlas it's a reshuffle and a never-ending unknown of when all of our progress will be deleted again.

Anyone on NA PvE, wanna team?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2019 12:58 PM PDT

Just realized my friend and I won't be able to settle any decent islands with the two of us only in our company. We got 1000 gold, just want to do the regular PvE stuff, quests, whaling, and what not. We're in I10 right now, looking for another small group to merge with.

Can I make a permanent base in Lawless?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2019 02:54 PM PDT

All the islands are taken and I don't wanna be under anyone's rule right now, I was wondering what negative reasons there are to setup a base in lawless? I know I have to log in every 10 days due to the timer but other than that, any major reasons not to?

I am so glad I spent 2 days learning to tame a tiger for it to glitch through the universe putting it on my ship, thanks!

Seriously, this was a huge issue before the wipe. Did you not consider fixing it?
