Looks like exploting freeports is the trend this wipe

    Posted: 28 May 2019 09:52 AM PDT

So, not having enough with the shop spam and the bear zoo's in the freeports, now you have these guys abusing the freeport to breed tames and avoid the "put food in the inventory" phase, and all the food that they eat during the maturation proccess. Guess that if u dont expose these things here, Grapeshot wont ever fix the freeports. (EU PVP, J9 south freeport)

    PvE QOL suggestions

    Posted: 28 May 2019 03:17 AM PDT

    Number 1 - structure healing

In a previous patch note for future patch there was a mention of having a structure which will "heal" your settlement structures if you have the necessary resources. This has been changed and to maintain settlement all you need is gold. Which is fine with me, it's actually good.

But what if we would have same idea for different purpose?

I HATE having to keep repairing my wood structures cause a rattlesnake snuck in and nom'ed on my floor for 5 dmg. A lot of people avoid building in wood, they just do stone. But as a more creative player i want different buildings in wood, thatch, stone without having to keep repairing cause hud shows me the dmg every time i walk past it.

I know from private server experience that if you turn off building damage in pve it would also turn off damage taken by ships from sotd. Should Pve buildings other than ships(ship structures) not take any damage? Would it be viable and easy for the devs to separate this setting of damage of structures from ships damage?

Or maybe we can have that building where we store wood, thatch, fiber, stone, metal, etc and it will heal our structures in that settlement over time? Obviously this should be usable by settlers as well. I feel this approach might be safer and nicer from gameplay perspective.

This doesn't have to be a different building, it could be the bank that does it. But i feel us PvE players would love another pre-fab building for the looks at least.

    Numero 2! - premade docks

I've seen mods that have made this already. So it's possible.

A lot of the pve bases have docks that spread out on the whole beach and it takes ages to load in all of the ceilings! Someone told me they had over 6k(cant remember exact number but smth around that) ceilings for their docks. That's just insane.

If we have premade docks like the ones in freeport that can snap to each other and extend them to our content then server performance will increase, plus it won't be as tedious to make soooo many ceilings.

    Number 2.2?

Docking made easier? If we get the premade docks can we maybe have the ability to just pull the ship closer to docks? They use ropes to tie boats to docks irl so it should really be a feature here too.

I always park my ships with the front towards the ocean so i can get out easier but sometimes it takes me a while to park because I'm afraid of the damage I'll take from pulling to close to my docks ceilings. Since we get the harpoons and all that to pull other smaller ships, i think it's possible to make it such way to pull the ship towards a dock.

Number 3 - premade buildings, medium walls

Again for same reason as for docks, LAG! people would have an easier time with loading bases if there arent as many structures to load. People can use premade buildings and place crafting benches inside of them, easy peasy!

The large walls are really really good but we need smaller walls than that. I hate to have a floor 1 wall high so i always build with 1 wall and a half wall. It is not too bad but for bigger pens or bases it would be useful to have medium walls(wood, thatch, stone) that are 2 wide, 3 high maybe? Open for suggestions on sizes.

I think settlements need more work as it is easy to grief atm but that should be a different post cause I'll be going on here forever. This post is already too long rofl

    Giant squid locayions?

    Posted: 28 May 2019 10:09 AM PDT

I have spent the last part of the weekend looking for a giant squid so I can tic that box off. Looked in f11 and f12 in a grid like fashion and found no joy. Anyone of any other locations I can search that may have it?

Never turn your back on the enemy

We captured an enemy combatant this weekend. I turned my back on him for 1 second to mess with discord and this happened.

    Breeding and stat inheritance

    Posted: 28 May 2019 03:53 AM PDT

From what I've read when you breed two animals together the child has a 55% chance to get the higher of each stat from between the two parents. I assumed that meant there was a 45% chance that the child would get the lower stat. But I'm also getting children with stats that match neither parent and have no mutations.

Bear 20 is a child of 11 and 18. Mother and father have a health of 761 and 420 but the child got a health of 504. That matches neither parent. The weight stat similarly does not match either parent.

Another breeder in my company is reporting the occasional child with higher stats than either parent with 0 mutations. Though I haven't seen this myself. I was under the impression that wasn't possible.

Is it known how stat inheritance works exactly?

    Figureheads blocking cannons

    Posted: 27 May 2019 08:56 PM PDT

I could understand if it blocked front cannons because that would make it easy to completely hide the cannons but the stone figurehead actually blocks front gun ports on a brig. Pretty dumb

Is there a single player mode?

    Posted: 27 May 2019 05:36 PM PDT

Last I checked the game did not have single player, but recently I noticed there's a page for single player on the atlas wiki. Is that a new addition or was there a mistake somewhere? I generally tend to avoid MMO's because of the toxicity, but loved single player Ark so might be interested if they added the option. Thanks!
