Single Player Mode would be better as "Adventure Mode" if player interaction was introduced.

Let me throw this one out there, first: Atlas is meant as a MMO right? How many other MMOs force you to always be grouped up with dozens of others (end game aside) just to play ? Not many!

The total area of Atlas isn't that big. It takes 8 hours to cross the full world at 20kn. That means The Atlas is only 184 miles across. When you're alone, that's huge. When 180k people occupy that space?? That's one person every mile. Or more often, dozens of people packed into the only desirable spaces. It really kills the feel of "sailing the Atlas" when really its more like "sail the metropolitan power bloc Archipelago." As an MMO Colonies is kind of lame; its more akin to a really big Ark or Rust map with more trappings of an MMO than it's mother game. Which is great! I love it! I'll keep playing it. However, after playing single player I feel this game mode could be what Atlas is "meant to be" by allowing controlled player interaction.

Single Player mode could become what Ill call "Adventure Mode" Adventure Mode remains largely the same as Single Player (still allowing players individual to have server settings and mods per session,) but; Players could invite one another in a way similar to co-op games. By using its own claim-flag system; players can change access parameters on their claim flag, allowing private, public, company only, or invite only access to a specific grid on their Atlas. Players could claim up to one grid as their shared grid, allowing for custom naming and interaction. Similarly, single players should be able to party up to do content like the Kraken, and power-stones. Furthermore, this would allow players to trade and PvP fight just as they would on official, but in a controlled environment; really allowing single players "the full Atlas experience." Furthermore, "Warzones" could be added to allow players to fight on an officially hosted server with official settings; with normalized stats, ammo, and resource box content for all ships. I really feel adding this functionality would make Single Player "Adventure Mode" the go-to game-mode for most people who like Atlas but don't have hundreds of hours to dump into other modes.

Patch Notes: Flags cannot be high up anymore. You have 1 week to comply.

(edit: they have now taken this change out. original post follows)

    From official discord:

    - Important: Claim Flags now have a maximum height limit when being placed. Claim Flags that were previously placed which exceed this limit will indicate as such on the HUD. Those which exceed the limit will be able to place a 2nd claim flag in a viable location. This will destroy your old flag and drop it's entire inventory into a loot cache (2 hour expiration time) on the ground. Next Wednesday, we'll be deploying an update which will force destroy any legacy flags which exceed the height limit. The limit is 4k 6500 units above sea-level which is approximately 16/17 walls and only admins or above will be able to replace the flag.

I do actually like this change but "4000" "6500" units is probably not as high up as you're thinking. I wanna say......2 large stone walls high?? It's deceptive because some things you thought were not very high are actually up a long slow slope and are further from sea level than you might think. Put a rock on top of that and now that rock is too high.

I would bet most people in the game have to move their flags now.

Anyway, if you were cruising along in some 1-man company holding down the fort for the 50 people who quit your clan over the last few months, you might need a new fort.

On the bright side, next time you take over an island, you are no longer obligated to figure out how to haul load after load of stone building parts up to the top of some mile high pinnacle.

    Looking for Company

I'm on official. I got kicked from my company. My friend and I are looking to join one. High priority on N3 or Greater Union. Or even my old company.
