    Ship customization

    Last night the discord had a bunch of ship customization ideas so I am just listing them here.

    • Oars: Each one uses a gun port and requires an NPC to operate. Provides better velocity for backwards,forward, and turning. Become useless if the ship is moving too fast.

    • Battering Rams: Sharp variant for breaking individual planks. Blunt variant does less damage but damages a bigger area and stuns players and NPC near the impact point.

    • Oil slicks : Some sort of oil dispenser you can place on a ship that drops oil into the ocean to be lit on fire for area denial.

    • Sea mines: Can be dropped from ships but takes time to arm.

    • Sea netting/trap: Dropped from ships. Easy to see from a distance but takes a long time to remove. Useful for blockading harbors.

    • Armored planks: Planks with metal plating. Significantly more durable and can cause cannonballs to richot at certain angles. Each plank has a % speed penalty like cargo boxes. A full armored ship wouldn't be able to move so they are primarily to protect important parts of the ship.

    • Ship Magazine: Increases reload speed of nearby cannons. Violently explodes if hit damaging a large part of the ship.

    An adventure deep into the heart of enemy territory!

    Last night I went out in search of adventure, into Rum Guzzler's harbor. They are a hostile people, but luckily they guzzle too much rum and are not very aware of their surroundings. They are also not very color coordinated, so I took it upon myself to make their fleet beautiful.

    I kind of wanted credit for all my hard work

    As you can see from the boat behind, I never really learned to color within the lines

    Since I already went outside the lines...might as well keep going

    Got kind of lazy towards the end, but ah well, I'm sure they'll still appreciate my efforts

    Tried Single player Atlas today

    I tried single player Atlas today... and as expected there are some small bugs here and there... and I can live with that... but a BIG one popped up and I am looking for a solution besides deleting the single player data and starting over... What's happening is when I try to leave the Freeport starting zone my game crashes with an error screen, if I swim or sail over it crashes... I have one ship in Freeport and one in the zone to the west... I can access the one in the freeport zone but when I switch beds the crash report below pops up...

    Multiplayer works fine PVP or PVE, no mods... anyone else having trouble like this?

    Suggestion: Full overhaul - Ship Sail Improvement

    This is my suggestion on how to improve the Atlas Ship sails. If you have suggestions, changes or improvements to my thoughts please leave a comment below.

    Suggestion to improve sails:

    1. First remove all current sails and sail BPs. (This will suck and will affect me as well, but it is required)
    2. Create one basic sail design for small/medium/large. (ie cosmetically looking like basic XX sail, with no bonus stats)
    3. Allow BP'd sails to acquire stat bonus (ie. Acceleration, top speed, turning radius, weight bonus, sail hit points, sail resistances and so on)
    4. Set caps on BP's sails (ie. Common sail max 5% or 10% bonus stats, fine max 15% or 20%, Journeyman max 25% or 30%, and so on) with Mystical BP and a 60% crafting bonus given you the best chance to get max level sail and bonus stats on those sails.
    5. Each sail stats are random so you may find a speed and weight on one BP while another BP is radius and weight.
    6. Make the speed stat rare, so it's more difficult to find.
    7. Additionally, add sail skins to be added to the game. (for cosmetic change to sails). Purchased from Freeport.

    Purpose: Creating one sail design allows for a flat rate, given random stat bonus based on the BP will allow for easier tweaking of stats on developer side and encourage BP farming of NPC ships and higher-level BPs in Power Stone Zones.

    Second change to sails

    1. Change the type of sails that can be added to ships.
    2. Sloop (2 small or 1 medium)
    3. schooners (3 smalls or 1 medium/1 small)
    4. Brigantine (3 medium or 1 large/1 medium)
    5. Galleon (6 Large or 4 Large/4 medium (medium can be side by side on each side of the ship))

    Purpose: Making the Small and Medium sails worth adding to smaller ships cause large sail on a small ship will weigh it down alot. Goal being any ship with 3 small/medium/6 large (mythical) speed stat sails and XX percentage in weight, perfect wind will max out at 20 to 22 knots (or higher).

    Noob with a single player question.

    The game was dirt cheap so why not?

    Been having fun so far. Managed to leave the starting Freeport at M7 and now I am in L7, but anything I try to build says that it'll break fast without a claim, and I can't claim lawless islands.

    Do I just need to keep sailing until I find a claimable island, or is there something I'm missing? The game wiki doesn't really say much (or I missed something...)
